Here are some things from my wishlist that have come out recently or will come out soon and that I'm just really excited about. :) Here goes:
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (book 5) goes on sale tonight at midnight.
(Incidentally, Suz, I like the kids' version of the cover of HP5 much more than the adult one...)
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Extended Edition DVD and the Extended Edition DVD Collector's Set can both be pre-ordered from amazon.com starting today. (amazon.ca - the Canadian one - still only has the regular theatrical edition so far) They're pre-orderable, and we wantsss it!
Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Theatrical DVD is already available online for pre-order.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 4 DVD set is out already. Love the season. Want it lots.
The Sims "Superstar" expansion pack is out. It's got some features that sound cool.
And, last but not least, Bif Naked has a new album out on Tuesday called Essentially Naked. Hehe. OLP also has a new live album coming out that day. Wooo.
Monday :: I am called and asked to come in for an interview on Tuesday.
Tuesday :: I go in at 10:00 am for interview. I am told will hear back on Wednesday about whether I am hired or not.
Wednesday :: No call. I wait. Watch Buffy episode "Tabula Rasa" while doing so.
Thursday :: Still waiting.
Friday :: Am finally called back by interviewer, who was "out of the office for a few days" (which I'm fairly sure at this point is just professional-speak for "I was too busy to call you back, but I'll tell you I was away so I have an excuse and don't look bad"...) Was told (abruptly) that I was hired and that I start on Monday at 9:00 am. Huh.
Saturday :: Leave for weekend trip to London (the Canadian one). Stop in Stratford along the way.
Sunday :: Leave from London back to good old T.O. Stop in St. Jacobs on the way back...small town...not much there...but was nice day so good to just walk around a bit. Am home now, checking e-mail and updating blog (clearly). Have work tomorrow. Baaah.
1. What drew you to this fandom? You know what? I don't even know. I can't remember. I know I'd seen a few episodes from Seasons 1-3, and I think I decided, "It'd be a good idea to watch the Season 4 premiere when it comes on." And the rest is history.
2. Are you involved in the fanfic world for this fandom? Only in a reading capacity. I've read some really good ones. I don't write any because I have this problem – I can only write a portion of a story (say, one scene that would happen right in the middle), but never a complete one (no beginning and no end).
3. Are you involved in any web community for this fandom? I'm in a Yahoo!Group, and I think that's all...unless you count my website as being a community. I've also joined a heckload of fanlistings. :)
4. What are your three favorite episodes? You KNOW I can't answer that question. Only three?
5. What was your favorite story arc? (spanning at least three episodes, not necessarily in a row). Buffy & Angel/Angelus; "Death is your gift" (I've gotta say, I think that probably turned out much better than that "From beneath you, it devours" thing); Spike
6. Favorite character to love: Um. Do I have to choose? Buffy, Xander, Anya, Willow, Spike, Dawn, Giles, Tara, Oz...
7. Favorite character to hate: I wouldn't say I actually hate any characters, but I'm not hugely fond of Principal Wood. Or Warren. Or Caleb.
8. Character who, throughout the series, managed to surprise you the most: Spike, I think. Plus, hearing that Buffy would suddenly have a new little sister at the beginning of Season 5 was surprising.
9. Favorite non-actor person on the set: Joss Whedon.
10. Least favorite non-actor person on the set: Joss Whedon. Grrr, arrgh.
11. Strangest name you remember appearing on the screen after the opening credits: Meaning the guest stars, then? I can only remember ones from Season 7 – Iyari Limon (who plays Kennedy) and Indigo (who plays Rona).
12. Best piece of dialogue: Soooo many I could never, ever pick. Ever.
But some that just came to mind are:
"Canapé?" (the first thing Oz ever said to Willow)
"Close your eyes." (the last thing Buffy said to Angel before killing him)
"I think horrible's still coming. Right now, I'm just trying to keep from dying. ...I can't breathe, Will. I feel like I can't breathe..." (Buffy)
"Out. For. A. Walk. ...Bitch." (Spike)
13. Best. moment. ever. Jeez. Who decided to make this so hard for me? Uhm...amongst others, there are:
- "Close your eyes", from Becoming, Part 2 - Buffy's epiphany/sacrifice in The Gift - The Sunnydale sign falling into the giant pit that used to be Sunnydale
14. Shippiest. moment. ever. Ohhh, another "easy" question, huh?
Various Buffy/Angel moments. Buffy & Spike had their moments as well, I think. And I liked the Xander/Anya stuff, too.
15. Of all your fandoms, why pick this one for the survey? Well, the questions on this seemed to be geared towards only TV fandoms, and so naturally I'd choose Buffy. Now, if this worked for non-TV fandoms, too, I'd also have to fill this survey in for Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and possibly a few other things. :)
Not much to say again...haven't really been doing much of any interest to any of you, probably...
Finally updated my website yesterday, though I think I might modify its contents somehow now that I can't really do much to update the main, Buffy section of it. It really bites the camel's ass.
...and no, I have NO idea where I got that expression from...
Anyway. So yeah, I don't know if I'll maybe change that section of my site, but seeing as how the site started out being about 4 shows and is now really only about 1... meh.
Went to see The Italian Job on Friday Saturday with Chloe. I really like those cars, man. And I don't normally like cars, really... Anyone wanna buy me a Mini Cooper? ;)
Watched the MTV Movie Awards on Saturday; the LOTR gang (including Mr. Gollum) had a few amusing acceptance speeches prepared (hehe...Viggo Mortensen and Bernard Hill were in full costume as Aragorn and Theoden, respectively, since they're still down in New Zealand working on reshoots and things...is it just me, or does Peter Jackson look a little hobbit-like? Well...he DID buy/keep the Bag-End set after filming was done...) which I enjoyed, and there were a few other amusing things during the show as well. :)
Anyway, so that's it for now, right? Ah yes, I believe I had some questions to answer...
1. You knew they were coming....If you could only have one of the five senses, which would you take? No freaking idea...I know it wouldn't be smell, since I can barely smell anything anyway...not taste, either...between sight, hearing and touch, touch would have to be the first to go...so of course, it's between the two primary senses: sight and hearing. Which is a really difficult choice.
Suz, you chose hearing because "silence is claustrophobic, suffocating". I agree with that, of course, but I'm guessing that maybe, perhaps, I'd be better equipped to handle complete silence than the average person. I'm not saying it wouldn't suck - because clearly, it completely would - but maybe I already have enough music playing in my head to sustain me; I could recognize my friends' laughter and voices anywhere (well, except for on the phone sometimes) and will never forget the way they sound. I would hate to never hear these things again - you see, I'm going about answering this question assuming I start with all 5 senses and then have to give all of them up except one, rather than only starting with 1 in the first place - but I've also always been sort of a visual person. Sort of. Not really. It's a lot harder to read people if you can't hear them. Like I said - tough choice.
2. If you could be either fire or water, which would you be? Oh dear. I'm glad I'm not one of those Miss Universe contestants, Suz.
Fire or water. Fire can either provide warmth and energy or kill you. Water can either help you sustain life or it can kill you as well. It's hard to say. I think I've always thought more of fire as destructive and water as life-giving, though clearly it could be the other way around as well. But I think I'm going to go with water...Though that hasn't been very well thought-out at all.
Ah. What ever happened to the days of the easy questions like "what is the meaning of life?" and "whatisthematrix?" ;) 'Cause, you know, those ones have short, straightforward answers...sure they do...
Not much to say here, except that I think Susan's probably right about me not missing Buffy until next fall, when I'll realize that there is no new season starting (I am currently in denial...ah, denial. Such a fun place to be). Sigh. The only consolation I had when Dark Angel and Roswell both ended was that at least I still had my Buffy. That...doesn't work so well in this case... :P
Anyway. This post was really just an excuse to answer my questions before they pile up (um, well I guess 4 doesn't really count as a huge accumulation compared to the 33 I got from Susan while she was being trigger-happy with my question box). So here goes. :)
1. Susan can't possibly be the only one...right? Yes, she can *points at the majority of the past questions asked*, but I suspect that's starting to turn around a bit :) Not that I don't love getting questions from Suz, but I hope more of you guys have realized how "useful" the oracle box (as Suz calls it) can be. ;)
2. Did you enjoy the Gethsemane/Redux/Redux II triple-part extravaganza? Yep, I did. :) Hope you liked "Intervention"...when's the next vidfest?
3. "Excuse me/If I'm off-track/but if you're so wise then tell me/WHY DO YOU NEED SMACK???" *does another handy-dandy Google search*... Oh. Suz, have you got Rent music stuck in your head again?
4. I HAVE A QUESTION!!! Why, if he died in LotR: tFotR, does Boromir appear in the countdown to LotR: RofK? Is that you, Chlo? I don't know why Boromir's there. Think those are just old pictures 'cause when the countdowns were made, the new ROTK pics weren't out yet. Most of those are from FOTR and TTT.
